SATURDAY, AUGUST 5 @ Swallow Hill
Yves Carbonne: "The Bass Is NOT An Instrument, But A Function Of The Music"
The bass guitar is (as its name indicates) a guitar. The function of the bass player is not the only possible function on this instrument. Presentation of an original instrumental bass instrument: the 10-string fretless sub-bass guitar.
10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Register
($30,
$25 for Swallow Hill members)

Jean Baudin: "Two-Handed Tapping - Rhythm and Melody Workshop"
As one of the earliest pioneers of the 9-string bass, Nuclear Rabbit's Jean Baudin has been taking the instrument to an entirely new level since 1999. Jean's style mixes intense tapping, slapping and fingerstyle. Primarily self-taught, Jean has studied privately with guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker as well as bassist Wally Voss.
2 - 4 p.m.
Carey Nordstrand: "How To Properly Set Up Your Bass" 4 - 5 p.m.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6 @ Swallow Hill
Darren Michaels: "The Art Of Solo Bass"
Since picking up the electric bass guitar at the age of seventeen, Darren Michaels has been interested in using the instrument in a solo context. His resulting compositions are highly melodic, shining an uncommon light on electric bass as a compositional instrument through the use of advanced techniques, effects, loops, and a bit of musical hocus pocus.
10 - 11:30 a.m.

Register
($30,
$25 for Swallow Hill members)

Greg Campbell: "Playing Outside The Box - Exploring All The Opportunities Extended Range Bass Offers" 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Stewart McKinsey: "The Fundamentals Of Rhythm and Groove"
What is groove? In an interactive forum, the clinic will look at the various elements of what makes a groove work. Chief among these are rhythm and the rapport among the various member of the rhythm section and the band as a whole.
1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Trip Wamsley: "The Art Of Solo Bass" 2:30 - 4 p.m.
