SATURDAY, AUGUST 5 @

Yves Carbonne:
"The Bass Is NOT An Instrument,
But A Function Of The Music"
The bass guitar is (as its name indicates) a guitar. The
function of the bass player is not the only possible
function on this instrument. Presentation of an original
instrumental bass instrument: the 10-string fretless
sub-bass guitar. |
10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. |

Jean Baudin:
"Two-Handed Tapping -
Rhythm and Melody Workshop"
As one of the earliest pioneers of the 9-string bass,
Nuclear Rabbit's Jean Baudin has been taking the
instrument to an entirely new level since 1999. Jean's
style mixes intense tapping, slapping and fingerstyle.
Primarily self-taught, Jean has studied privately with
guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker as well as
bassist Wally Voss. |

|
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6 @
Swallow Hill |
Darren Michaels:
"The Art Of Solo Bass"
Since picking up the electric bass guitar at the age
of seventeen, Darren Michaels has been interested in using
the instrument in a solo context. His resulting
compositions are highly melodic, shining an uncommon light
on electric bass as a compositional instrument through the
use of advanced techniques, effects, loops, and a bit of
musical hocus pocus. |

"The Fundamentals Of Rhythm and Groove"

whole. |
