DENVER, COLO. (06/18/08) -- Great beers and great music come together for
two fun-filled days as the Old South Pearl Street Association and Swallow Hill
Music Association present the annual SummerFest on Old South Pearl Street.
BrewGrass, featuring a lineup of great national and local bluegrass acts,
will take place on Saturday, July 12 while Blues & Brews, which features
top national and local blues artists, will take place on Saturday, August 9.
Both days run from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Greensky Bluegrass will headline BrewGrass. Greensky
Bluegrass won First Place in the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band
Competition and they've been touring extensively since 2005 with their blend of
original compositions and traditional bluegrass. Also on the bill are banjo
prodigy Tony Furtado and one of Colorado's most beloved string-fusion bands,
Boulder Acoustic Society.
Blues & Brews headliner Tommy Thomas Band showcases the
revered Delta bluesman who is an avid mentor for other blues artists. Joining
the bill for this day are the Erica Brown Band, who recently represented
Colorado at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and Jockamo, a
Cajun-flavored outfit straight out of Nashville.
Each day features a full lineup of quality entertainment as well
as beers from Colorado's top brew masters like Breckenridge Brewery, Coors,
Deschutes Brewery, Ft. Collins Brewery, Great Divide Brewing Company, Left Hand
Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing Company and Odell Brewing Company, all for
just a buck at the door. The full artist lineup is as follows:
It's all happening at the 1200 block of Old South Pearl
Street—North of Louisiana and South of Buchtel—just a hop, skip and a jump west
from the Louisiana-Pearl Light Rail Station. BrewGrass and Blues &
Brews are open to all ages. Feel free to bring chairs and blankets. These events
will go on rain or shine. No outside food or beverages, please. Two ATMs will be
available on-site and an additional one is located at 7-11 on the corner of
Louisiana and Pearl. More information and updates can be found at
